It's the day of your big date, the guy you have been lining up to see for months is on his way over to pick you up and of course your skin has never looked so drab! Panic sets in and you struggle to create that iridescent glow that will sweep him off his feet… PUT DOWN THE MAKEUP BRUSH AND LISTEN UP!
We get the low-down on luminisers from makeup artist to the stars and CEO of Proof cosmetics, Dale Dorning.
What is a luminser?
"Luminiser is basically a god send of a makeup must-have that creates
dimension and that dewy, fresh glow on your face. They are a great way
to highlight your natural features whilst creating a fresh-faced and feminine
appeal. Luminisers come in powder, crème and liquid form."
What is the difference between a Highlighter and a Luminiser?
"Not a lot! It's really down to texture and formulation. Some luminisers
contain more mica (shine property) than others. Whether your luminiser
be a powder or crème formula, the trick is finding the one that illuminates
and highlights your features without making you look like a shiny disco
ball!"
Where do I use Luminisers?
"Generally you should only use a luminiser on the high points of the face
- cheekbones, brow bones and just above the eyebrow."
How do I choose the right colour for my skin tone?
"As a general rule, pale skin tones should choose cream/vanilla tones
as they will look perfect - not too white. Olive skin tones should opt
for a luminiser with a slight gold tone to help meld into the skin perfectly."
What tools do I need?
"When working on the cheek bones, your fingers are the best tools. Apply
in natural light, using your ring finger, gently patting your crème luminiser
onto the high points of the face. Check your face at different angles
to ensure your application is seamless."
