Maddi Ryan’s entry impressed enough for her to score a double pass to the ARIAS. Here’s her low-down on the experience….

When I first found out that I had won two tickets to the ARIAs I was ecstatic! I quickly ran to tell my sister, Ashleigh, and she was extremely excited too! I had never been to Acer Arena before so it was sure to be a great experience. We arrived at Sydney Olympic Park and followed the crowd towards the doors of Acer Arena.

We checked our tickets and began to look out for door 30. Ashleigh spotted door 15 so we only had halfway to go, so we thought. A bell started to sound and a lady over a loud speaker was informing us that the doors were about to close in about five minutes. My sister quickly took off her heels and we started running like crazy! We suddenly stopped as we realised that we were back to the start where we had walked in and had run an entire lap around Acer Arena! The bell sound began again and I spotted a sign that said “doors 25 – 50 upstairs”. Finally we found our seats and the biggest music event of the year was about to begin!

Keith Urban kicked off the show with an amazing performance of “Kiss a Girl”. This was followed by Jessica Mauboy’s “Burn”. The lighting effects were amazing! During the ad breaks the audience took part in quiz questions, a giant Mexican wave and all took a photo at the same time - it looked like stars shining in the night!

Spotting celebrities below was like playing a game of “Where’s Wally?”. Both Sneaky Sound System’s Connie Mitchell and singer, Jade MacRae could be spotted with great ease thanks to their afro-licious hair! A pair of binoculars seemed to come in very handy for the couple seated behind us. Why didn’t we think of that?

Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore's Empire of the Sun took home the majority of the ARIA Awards as well as performing their number one single “Walking on a Dream”. The costumes were fantastic as well as the setups on the stage, which included a large glowing sun.

On the whole, the highlight of the night was without a doubt Mr Robbie Williams. He had everyone on their feet singing and dancing along! Thank you so much Bellaboo! This was definitely a night that both my sister and I will always remember. We hope to go again next year!
