New Moon
By Stephanie Meyer
HQ girls are totally hooked on this blood thirsty series. OK, so we are second-rounders to the phenomena that is Twilight and yes, yes, it may well have everything to do with seeing the movie and becoming Edward-obsessed. Although lately there has been some discussion around where our obsessions lay – Edward vs Jacob, after sighting the highly impressively toned torso of Jacob on the New Moon trailer! Sorry, we are very easily side-tracked! Back to review mode.
Now, we are not going to give anything away but want to share the gazillion reasons why have to read the next instalments! New Moon follows on from Twilight, where Bella and Edward have succumbed to each other’s obsession, slain some bad-arse vampires (him), saved a life (hers) and come out totally committed and together and on the path to endless happiness – right? Na Ah! Of course not.
The path to togetherness is strewn with an ever-mounting maze of hurdles – some deadly, some terrifying, some gut-wrenchingly painful, and all involving the other world of vampires and their associated enemies and allies. What we can see is that New Moon takes a very unexpected turn from the first chapter that will keep you gripped to the end to find out how it all pans out.
Eclipse
By Stephanie Meyer
Eclipse cleverly continues the saga with Bella torn between her love for Edward and a newly found love for someone else that is very close to her. Lucky girl has the undivided attention of both very hunky boys. There are the obligatory vampire issues for her of stalking evil vampires that must be dealt with. We also get a lot of background to the Cullens and how they all came to be vampires. Needless to say Eclipse, like the stories before it, is action packed, high drama, intense, and strung out with sexual tension. All the reasons why you just can’t put it down!
