2 Cents: Jealous of my bestie

Hi Crew, I have a really beautiful best friend and I find myself always feeling jealous of her. I don’t want to feel like that, but I can’t seem to be happy when I am with her because I feel like I’m living in her shadow. Any suggestions?
Sarah, 15

Hey Sarah,
Everybody at some point in their life has seen a person that makes them envious. When this happens, one’s self confidence is automatically diminished, as you tend to feel inadequate next to that person. Although it is very difficult, you have to realise that everyone is different and that there is something beautiful in everyone!

You just need to think about your best attributes and highlight them. When I say best attributes, I mean both physical and personality wise. For example, you may have beautiful eyes, so try and accentuate them with makeup that compliments them, as this will help you to feel attractive.

Or, say you have a bubbly personality – always let this shine, as people are always attracted to a happy, confident individuals. The secret to getting noticed is to believe that you are beautiful. Once you master this, other people will believe it too.

It’s not just looks that count, Sarah. Once looks fade, your personality will define you as a person.

So to sum it all up, although it will be a challenge, try to concentrate on what makes you beautiful and not how beautiful your friend is. Trust me, you will feel a lot happier with yourself and life.

Best of luck
Jess x.

Thats so true aye =]
I believe in the bible and it says:

3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. 5For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful.

1 Peter 3:3-5

So basically.... the Bible says beauty comes from the inside. Think about all the women you know that you truly love, look up to, admire and would aspire to be like. Are they honestly physically beautiful, or is it more their inner beauty? Perhaps even both =]]
But inner beauty doesnt fade...

xx
