Guantanamo Boy is a powerful novel giving teens an insight into the world of terror. It breaks down stereotypes between the reality of the detention centre that is Guantanamo Bay and what we as outsiders believe.
The story line tells the day to day life of one Australian born Pakistani boy, who, after being completely frustrated with school and ready for a change, heads to Pakistan to meet his extended family for the first time.
The plot takes a turn for the worst when Khalid is kidnapped and taken inside the walls of Guantanamo Bay. Khalid witnesses the torture, imprisonment and total abandonment of the people inside and realises that there is only a very small chance that he will ever escape.
For those of you who want to read something that is completely informative, heart-wrenching and a book that differs from anything you have ever read, I strongly urge you to get a copy of Guantanomo Boy.

What an interesting book on a controversial, sensitive and modern issue. I'll definitely check it out next time I go to the library.
