Brooke Scher
In one paragraph summarize you – who you are, what you do, what motivates you, what you are passionate about
My name is Brooke Scher and I am eighteen-year-old teen from Los Angeles, California. I have been acting, singing, dancing ever since I could stand on my own two feet! I am motivated to be a better person each day just by doing what I love to do. Overall, I'm a very bubbly girl. Seeing others smile makes me motivated to smile. I know that no matter what type of day I'm having, if I just smile, then I will be surrounded by positive energy. I'm extremely passionate about my family, my friends, my career, and getting good grades!
Who was your role model/s when you were a teen?
Ask any of my friends, I grew up loving Hilary Duff. When I was in middle school and Lizzie McGuire premiered, she was automatically the teenager that I looked up to. Hilary Duff has handled her career and the media extremely well. She hasn't turned into one of the "bad girls" and has always held her head high.
How did your role model/s help you?
Now that I'm a teenager, I feel that I've stayed on a strong path to make sure that I'll have girls looking up to me just as I did to Hilary.
What role or influence do you think role models have?
Role models have an extremely strong influence on people. Basically, they have to be what they want others to be. Teenage celebrities have an even more powerful influence on their fans. Most of their fan base are still maturing and growing up, so they do what they see their favourite celebrities doing out in public or in the tabloids. It is essential for their role models to make the right choices.
What were some of the issues you faced as a teen?
Hey! I'm still a teen, and I can tell you first hand, it is much more stressful than being only eight. I guess I'll be able to say in ten years that being twenty eight is much harder than being only eighteen. When I was five, my biggest problem would be if I didn't get my new favorite toy from Toys R Us. As a teen, I've faced issues such as wanting everyone to like me, wishing that arguing with my parents wasn't even an option, and being self conscious with my skin. Well, guess what? I've found out that the people who like me for me are my true friends; arguing with my parents just shows how comfortable we are with each other to yell at one another for hours and then five minutes later say "Goodnight, I love you;" and as for my skin, it has been worked miracles ever since I tried Bellaboo!
How did you overcome these issues?
I overcame these issues by just maturing and growing up. That is what life is all about.
What do you remember most about being a teen?
I remember my high school experience the best, especially ninth grade. I had just come from a public middle school of 2,000 students to a high school made up of only ninth grade in which only fifty students belonged to. Parents (including mine) helped create this performing arts school. We were passionate and all became like a family.
What qualities do you think you possess that has helped you succeed in your chosen field?
I'm outgoing and I love love LOVE to perform. I'm currently working on a bunch of different projects including school, acting, my music, and my jewelry store. I’m very business oriented and I love marketing. A typical day of mine involves going to school as a full time student, coming home and marketing my online store and my music, finish my homework, and then going to sleep dreaming of my goals and dreams. I'm very driven. If I want something badly enough, I'll go out and get it.
Outside of career success, what is it that you are most proud of?
I'm most proud of the person that I have become. I'm a great friend, girlfriend, and daughter (most of the time.) ;)
Do you undertake activities to help others/community? If so, please detail
Yes, I do! I have volunteered to get people to vote for the presidential election even before I could vote myself and I have volunteered at retirement homes just to make the people smile. I am most passionate about animals. I volunteer with an amazing organization called "Bark Ave. Foundation" that rescues dogs and cats. Many people are not aware that there are so many dogs and cats, and not enough room for them in the animal shelters. Thousands of amazing animals, young and old, are being euthanized each year because they are not being adopted and the shelters are overcrowded. Soon, I will also be working with an organization called "Tree People" to help clean up the parks in our area.
Your advice to youths about realizing their own potential…
I want each girl and boy out there to realize that they have the power to create their own potential. If you want to be the best person you can be, be the best person you can be! We create the lives we live. Never give up on your goals and aspirations, knowledge can never hurt, and spread your smiles across the world! :)
