Name: Chris Bath
Age: 41
Occupation: Seven Network News Anchor
Sydney-siders see her face every night as she fills us in on the happenings in the world in her role as Seven News Anchor. She's a working mum who loves her little boy and her job. In the cut throat world of TV she has survived 20 years. She loves that life is a journey of learning and finds the acquiring of knowledge and, hopefully, wisdom a major motivator. Her passions are gardening, cooking , and the Italian language - not that that means she's mastered any of them but she's had fun trying!
Who was your role model/s when you were a teen?
My favourite role models came from literature! Elizabeth Bennet from "Pride
and Prejudice" and Sybylla from "My Brilliant Career" are the first two
that spring to mind. I think I was drawn to their strength, disregard
for peer group pressure and stubbornness!
How did your role model/s help you?
Somewhere along the way, they helped me see the value in being determined
and independent, and not necessarily following the pack.
What role or influence do you think role models have?
You don't necessarily have to follow in the footsteps of your role models,
just learn from their experiences and adapt them to suit you.
What were some of the issues you faced as a teen?
The interesting thing is that I can't really remember, so perhaps nothing
that diabolical!
What do you remember most about being a teen?
I remember not quite fitting in anywhere, feeling awkward and geeky.
What qualities do you think you possess that have helped you
succeed in your chosen field?
I can talk under wet cement. That probably helps!
Outside of career success, what is it that you are most proud
of?
My little boy and my other half - he is the world's best Dad.
Your advice to youths about realising their own potential...
Have a go, you might as well. The worst thing that can happen is that
you'll fail and learn from it.
When it comes to how you live your life, what are the most important
factors/values?
Grab life and give it a bloody good shake.
Why do you think you make a good role model?
I'm not sure that I do!!!
