ChatterChick Sloan chats to teen talent, Gabbie Rae…a 12 year old with a big voice, talent and heart to match! With a recording deal, upcoming CD, anti-bullying campaign for special needs kids she is behind …this is one rising teen to look out for that BB hearts!
BB: How did you get started with AMTC (Actors, Models, Talent Compeition)? What are you doing here today?
Gabbie Rae: I got started with AMTC after I heard it on the radio. I really thought it was a great opportunity. I checked it out on the website and I came and sang a mid-long version of a song that totally changed my life. I’m here today doing what I love!
BB: Out of curiosity, what song was that?
Gabbie: People Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield
BB: So this (AMTC) is how you got started in the music industry?
Gabbie: Yes
BB: Are you working on any current projects right now?
Gabbie: I’m doing a lot of recording. We want to get an album out. I’m working on an anti-bullying campaign for special needs children. I’m going to be premiering my video for Don’t Look Down, a cover of David Ryan Harris, and I’m really excited for everyone to see it.
BB: What is Don’t Look Down about?
Gabbie: The song Don’t Look Down is about my anti-bullying campaign for special needs children.
BB: How did you get started with your anti-bullying movement?
Gabbie: I have a lot of friends in Myrtle Beach that are special needs. I met them while performing at the beach, and they’re really close to my heart. Sometimes they’d come up to me and be like ‘Gabby, this is happening or that’s happening’ and it breaks my heart because I’m so close to them and I want to change that. So this anti-bullying campaign is really special.
BB: Do you have any other songs that have come out or are about to premiere?
Gabbie: Neverland has already premiered. I also have a song called Turn it Up, that is going to be released soon along with a music video. And of course there’s Don’t Look Down.
BB: Have you faced any obstacles on this journey of trying to make it in the music industry so far?
Gabbie: There are definitely obstacles. You have to be positive about everything. But you get through them when you love it so much. You want to keep going and you don’t want to give up, especially while you’ve come such a long way. I just keep fighting for what I believe in and I try my hardest to keep going.
BB: Have there been any events that have happened to you or anything you see, or anyone, that just inspires you?
Gabbie: My parents definitely inspire me. Big Boi of OutKast is definitely a mentor and inspires me. Of course all my friends in Myrtle Beach, they all inspire me, especially for the anti-bullying campaign.
BB: Who is your role model or what makes somebody a good role model for you?
Gabbie: I have a couple role models. One of them is my dad because he’s been there for me since day one, training me in my voice and supporting me. I’m kinda starting on the producing side of the album and I really love producing, especially because they’re my songs. Blake Eiseman, he is my producer and he’s been my mentor for producing.
BB: What do you think makes a person beautiful?
Gabbie: Something that I think makes a person beautiful is simply believing in themself. Just be a great person, believe in yourself, stand up for others, and just be true.
BB: What makes you happy?
Gabbie: Singing, recording. I love my puppies… school, I’m a geek haha
BB: One thing you can’t live without?
Gabbie: Probably my family. I know that probably sounds weird, because when you think of a question like that you probably get “my lipstick”, but I can’t live without my family because of the music business I’m in, and because they support me and you need that support. BB: What is the most played song on your iPod?
Gabbie: I love so many songs. I change my favorite song every week. I love so many artists. I’m really loving Katy Perry’s Last Friday Night, I’m loving that one right now.
