Master Chef Master Mind
I don't know about you but I just luuuuuuved Master Chef! I do not profess to being a foodie - other than, yeah, I love my food and love to eat. But, I realise now that its come to its finale what I loved about Master Chef. The fact that it was a show based around peoples' accomplishments. They had to achieve something, they had to prove their talent, skill and ability to deal with extreme pressure. Finally a show that didn't rate people locked up in surreality doing the dumbest things and displaying the most banal behaviour.
When you think about reality TV - Big Brother, Top Model, Blow Out and that genre that represents so called reality (NOT!!!!!) - it's all about showing people at their worst. It's about making TV by setting up contestants to be bitchy. It usually involves people being rewarded and awarded for doing not very much. Unless you count looking pretty, doing a bum dance or over-exposure an accomplishment.
No, Master Chef, has to be totally applauded for bringing some reality and real values into this genre of TV. These people had to have skill, talent and had to work damn hard to reach the end to win. The contestants weren't set up to look bitchy - they were all totally supportive of each other. And, there was no sterotyping. Every creed, colour and look was represented! I say yeah to that! 'Cos that is reality. We don't all look like the same. We don't get ahead in life by spending our days lying around and bitching about other people and occassionally undertaking ridiculous challenges to win hundreds of thousands of dollars. No, in real life, you have to work damn hard to get what you want. Master Chef reflected all that and I hope that is the catalyst for more TV of its ilk.
Let's have more shows where the people are interesting, where they are judged on what they achieve and where it's all about positive people who are striving to win but just as happy for the people on the journey who do win because they know how hard they've worked for it and that they deserve it.
Note to TV execs, let's get real about reality TV - 4.1 million viewers voted with their remotes.

so true candy! I loved it as well and think Julie really deserved to win :D She was my favourite from the begining.
I love MasterChef! The finale was amazing and the chocolate dessert looked really delicious. I usually don't like reality TV shows but MasterChef focuses on someone's talent and passion on something we all relate to - food!
So sad it's over.
