Girl Hood

Bellaboo has recently returned from the US and an absolute highlight was an event we did with girls in South Central Los Angeles.

We partnered with My Beauty to run a skin care and self esteem workshop. The talented and gorgeous Monique Coleman was our special guest.

The girls came on board the My Beauty bus and were treated to a Bellaboo skin care sessiona and facial. We also got to talk to the girls about self esteem and the issues that affect them. The girls we met were so inspiring. Girls from 10-17 and each and every one of them had the most incredible postive self esteem. They had all worked on understanding that true beauty is about who you are vs what you look like .They all got that the media can make us feel bad about ourselves but saw through that and were able to embrace their own self beauty in all its shapes and forms.

We went there hoping to inspire them but it was them who inspired us! We got to talk indepth about self esteem and beauty. Monique was amazing. She sat and chatted to the girls about all the stuff that puts pressure on teens and the girls were absolutely thrilled to have her there, to meet her and get to talk to her.

I walked away from the experience believing in girl hood....girls supporting each other, being there for each other and sharing their experiences and thoughts about girl issues so that girls who do have low self esteem can draw inspiration and guidance from girls who have overcome it all.
