Meeting Your Favorite Celebrity
I struggled on what to write about for my first blog...then I got to thinking. What is something that I'm known for? Well, in high school everybody knew that I would take weekend trips to Los Angeles, California or drive cross-country for a week there as well. Nothing out of the norm for me and my group of friends. But, for what reason exactly?
I am obsessed with Hollywood and all that it entails. I don't know what about it or how to describe it, but I get such a rush when I meet a celebrity. So, my friends(who just so happen to share the same thrill and obsession) and I will plan week long trips with one goal in mind: Meet as many celebrities as possible.
Step #1: Decide who you want to meet. No matter how large the celebrity may be fame and stardom wise, nobody is off limits.
Step #2: RESEARCH. People always accuse me of "stalking", which I very defensively put into quotations. If there is a movie premiere, concert, red carpet or talk show appearance, meet-and-greet, or radio show interview happening, trust me: they want you there! The more coverage and fan base there, the better. So, no you're not a stalker.
Step #3: Find out the "hot spots" of the town. I.e: restaurants, clubs, coffee hangouts, parks, movie theaters, bowling alleys. Whether it seems this way or not, celebrities are just like you and I and go out and do normal day-to-day activities.
Step #4: Know your boundaries. If you happen to see a star while they are with what seems to be family or friends, that's the first red flag. Second, if they are in the middle of eating, do NOT disturb them.
Step #5: Remember to not "fan girl" or "teenie"; or more commonly referred to as freak out. That only scares the person and probably makes them less likely to talk and mingle with you. In every situation I've had, I usually get to talk with the person for about 5 minutes, unless it is a premiere or meet- and- greet. Now, I'm not saying it's not acceptable or understandable to be excited, just don't go overboard in front of them. Hold your composure. Once you're in your car or out of sight from the celebrity: FREAK OUT!!!
9 times out of 10 a celebrity will be more than happy to accommodate your request. Whether it be a autograph, picture, or whatever other crazy request you may come up with, they will usually do it. There has only been one time in the more than 200 celebrity encounters I've had where the star flat out denied me. I won't name names though.....*cough Avril Lavigne cough* Whoops...
P.S. If you are ever in a situation where you have to choose between an autograph or a picture, go with the picture. Print it, frame it, and hang it up as great room decor!
Happy Celebrity Hunting, Bellaboobabes!!
