Victorian tragedy leaves PM speechless
I watched the television this morning in total despair as Prime Minister Kevin Rudd gave reasurance and a sense of comfort to the nation on the tradgic Bush fires destorying regional Victoria.
Stuttering his words from his trembling lip when asked about the culprit of this disaster, he said "No words, no words can describe the type of person that could do this, it's mass murder."
The overcome PM struggled through the interview while giving his thoughts and prayers to the victims, their families and the heroic volunteers and fire fighters charged with the responsibilty of controlling the roaring flames and devestation.
Now dubbed "Black Saturday", this weekends fires will be sure to go down in history as one of the most fatal natural disasters this country has ever faced.
With the death toll on the rise from 108 people, I and and I am sure the rest of Australia hope that it does not climb. So far 750 homes have been destroyed along with the innocent victims' live stock, lively hood and love ones.
With the hundreds of stories venting through the media on the total heart-ache and loss of people much like you and I, it only leads me to one question... How could someone do such a thing, would they have to be mentally unstable or just pure evil?
Let me know your thoughts,
Kate

personally, i think its absolutely horrific to think that somebody will do this, if the people ever get caught, they should be killed! The death toll is up to 209 now, and its still going to increase! My hearts are with everyone who's house's have been burnt, animal's killed/injured,families of people who have lost people in them, and just everybody who has lost someone or something in these fires! x
The fires are depressing, my school recently had a casual day and a sausage sizzle and we raised over $2000. Although the victims are getting heaps of money nothing can replace precious things and family heirloms. My cousins and auntie house was burnt down, they managed to salvage a few photos but thats all they have. I can't belive somebody purposley lit it, and are still lighting fires. Its horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Victorian Bushfire's are so upsetting. at my school we have only 500 kids and we had a free dress day and he had to bring a gold coin donation but none of us did. instead we all brang 50 bucks and 20 buckas and stuff i am very prund of the money we raised,, me made over 1000 dollers and all the money goes to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. i can still not belive there is still someone out there continuing to light these fires, that person must be very much insane or completly cold hearted, this man is and evil and souless person,, i hope he gets caught and no more people will have to suffer and loose there lives,, houses, and frineds lives.
A tragedy beound belife,
The Victorian Bushfires are devestating and horrific. My condolence goes to those affected and the families and friends of the victims. I've donated money to The Salvation Army (they were outside the train station), but I feel as if I can't do any more than that.
Even the world can see the bushfire tragedy, with Sam the Koala being published in news media around the world.
