High fashion Teen Modeling, at what age and at what price?
Now boo’s, we have all noticed the ongoing stories in the media and red hot controversey of underage models bearing their flesh for all to see across websites, international catwalks and magazines.
A story surfaced recently on a 16-year-old girl posing topless in a bubble bath alongside an 18-year- old male model as a part of an 18 page spread in Russh, a Sydney-based magazine.
The image was taken with wine bottles in the background and the male model with eyes closed, looking totally ‘out of it!’
While some excuse it as ‘art’ or put it down to fashion and ‘maturity’, we at BB label the issue as inappropriate, damaging and basically sick to showcase a teen in such a demeaning and vulnerable light!
So what does this message send to teens? That it is ok to put yourself in this situation? It is ok to be influenced in this way? That this is the way to get ahead in your career?
What I suppose it really means is that teens will go above and beyond to make it in the entertainment world and some adults in the industry, with motives to make money, take advantage of them!
Over-exposure of teens in the media is one major contributing factor for the problems in society that we have today, including underage sex, abuse and crime.
It is shocking that some media have not learnt from this and do not attempt to focus their influence and access to teens in a positive and inspiring way!

I think its ok to have underage teen models but definately not for topless photo shoots. Teen modles should give a positive picture to other teens and not lead them to inappropriate situations. Overexposed teens give the wrong influence and I agree that this shouldn't be allowed.
i love russh magazine, but when i saw this editorial i was shocked at how young the models looked. totally not romantic, or glamourous, just pretty tacky. i thought russh would have more class, but a few of their photo shoots are verging on druggie chic, which is a bit off.
i really think models modeling in magazines not aimed at a teen market should be at least 18 years old. it's just not right for adults to put teenagers in adult situations, when they're not adults, and to judge them when they then act in an adult way (i.e. what happened with miley cyrus and those vanity fair pics - not her fault but she has had to cop the flak for it).
