Invisible Children

ChatterChick Camisha brings us this story about the Lords' Resistance Army, LRA, in Uganda, headed by Joseph Kony. The LRA forces young innocent children to be soldiers and slaves in his rebel war. They are enslaved, raped, mutilated, stripped of their identity. These invisible children need to be seen. This is their story and how you can help Make The Change.....

In Uganda for the past 23 years the Lord’s Resistance Army( LRA) and Government of Uganda(GoU) have been fighting against each other. The GoU tries to protect its citizens from the rebels but fails.

The LRA is traced back to Alice Lakwena, a Ugandan Priestess who was said to channel the Holy Spirit. She believed she was told to overthrow the Ugandan Government. After she was defeated she escaped to Kenya. Joseph Kony was believed to be her cousin and took over the fight. Kony’s LRA didn’t receive the same support as Alice Lakwena’s original movement. With less people’s approval the LRA decided to abduct children to fight for their cause. 90% of LRA troops are said to have been kidnapped as children.

In 2001 the US patriotic act declared the LRA as terrorists, which resulted in drawing more attention to them. The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Joseph Kony and four of his top commanders in 2005. Invisible Children helps fund the needs of economic development, education and peace.
The atrocities committed against these young, innocent children have been going on for so long and yet it seems they are invisible, with so little international attention or action. It is time to put a stop to these children and their plight being invisible. See what you can do to make a change… visit www.invisiblechildren.com
