Hollywood- a Place of Glamour or a Pit of Pain?

Has Hollywood spiraled into a town of lies, rumors, abuse, and bad role models? In the 1950s, Hollywood was a place of glamour and excitement- the good life. What are the images you think of when you hear Hollywood? When searched, Hollywood is defined as a place of lies, fake people, drugs, drama, and no talent. Not long ago, Hollywood was the essence of perfection for anyone on the outside looking. Now, it is known as a place where innocent people spiral into a life characterized by drama and drugs. Michael Jackson, an idol himself, was brought up in Hollywood. Most people say he was doomed from the start of his career, that he had no chance at a normal life. Demi Lovato, also one of Hollywood's finest suffered from bulimia and bi polar disorder. When we look at the stars of older times, like Audrey Hepburn, Jean Crain, and Leslie Howard, we see real role models. We see people who lived lives in the spotlight- and knew it. They cared for their image, knowing they were some hopeful kid's role models. But now, kids are surrounded with people in the media that feel like they need to be perfect looking, instead of perfect acting. They are thrust into a world of stress and pain, resulting in eating disorders, depressions, and substance abuses. Our role models now are the most distressed people out there. What can we do to change this? Less pressure on the stars today, or a bigger focus on the real role models of today- the heroes, the people doing things to save the world. Lets celebrate those who are saving society, instead of those crashing into a world of pain.
