Yep, another miserable weekend ahead. It’s pouring rain outside and you have just bought yourself that pair of sexy peep toe pumps you have wanted to wear out for ages. There is no way you are going to want to break in your beauties this weekend by sloshing around in the mud like a horse (be it Melbourne Cup week or not! I’m not that into the spirit of things!)
So you had that new night club to go to, that wedding reception, that random guy’s birthday or that place that you had to go be because your bestie wanted you to go with her. Now what?
GIRLS NIGHT IN!!!!
You heard me!
This is the best excuse to pig out, gossip, make fondue, watch silly/sappy/sad movies and make mocktails!
Just because it’s miserable outside doesn’t mean you have to be!
My top 5 fave things to do at a girls night in:
1 Play an uber competitive game such as Trivial Pursuit (the DVD version is a blast), Atmosphere (again, go the DVD version!), Monopoly (classic), Uno or Cluedo.
2 Cook something! Whether it be pop tarts or custard tarts, cupcakes or chocolate mudcake, you have to cook something. You feel so professional and satisfied knowing that you’ve made it all by yourself (whether you forgot to take the egg shells off the eggs or not is a completely different matter) and the suspense prior to eating the food is amazing! Plus, it gives you time to sip on your fruit tingle mocktail.
3 Dress up. You can wear your pyjamas, a pirate costume, your swimming costume, silly hats and wigs, or even the clothes you were going to wear out that night. Dressing up is a laugh and a half (and we all know that laughing for a while is the equivalent of several stomach crunches so you can work off those chocolate chip pancakes as you go!). If you have some time to prepare, even theme the party like a colour theme or a movie theme. Try cowboys and Indians, Moulin Rouge or even the Rocky Horror Picture Show, for your parents to get some entertainment out of it as well (they won’t mind you taking off with all the munchies if they are too bust laughing and reminiscing to notice!).
4 Prank phone calls. Now this one is a good one but if not done with the right intentions can be really nasty and not fun at all. When my friends and I make prank calls we go for silly calls such as singing a song we are listening to on the radio really loud (and badly) to one of the girls who couldn’t make it. Another funny one is asking questions randomly during a phone call from the Trivial Pursuit cards you were playing with. You can even call a few people and see who wins out of all of them.
5 Background music! The MOST important part of any sleepover is to have background noise. Whether it be your fave Cd or a movie you pop in and out to look at every now and then, it sets the scene for your party and also brings in some good convo! Like how hot Johnny Depp looks in Pirates of the Carribean.
