BB gives you the 411 on the difference between natural skin care vs the stuff based on chemicals.
Is natural skin care better for you than all the other stuff on the shelf? Do you think Coca Cola is better for you than water? Duh! Water, right? So, what’s the mystery on natural skin care and whether it’s better for you than chemical-based skin care? It’s a no-brainer. Something that is full of good for you plants and flowers is going to be better for you than a bunch of chemicals.

Here’s why.
Did you know that the average teen girl will use 10-15 beauty products in an average day and that equates to exposure to 200 chemicals? And that some of the chemicals found in cosmetics have been linked to cancers?
Parabens, sulphates, petrochemicals, mineral oils, artificial fragrances and colours, and pesticides are all used in skin care and cosmetics.
If you check out the ingredient list on your skin care, if it sounds like a chemical then it probably it is. Sulphates, found in most cleansers and shampoos is used as an engine degreaser! Obviously in much higher quantities but still, would you want something that is used to strip the grease from engines on your face? And, propyl glycol is found in brake fluid and….in many moisturisers. Good for you? Nope!
Natural ingredients generally come from one of three sources: plants, herbs and oils. If you have a skin problem, like acne, natural acne skincare products will help your skin better than those containing harsh chemicals. Natural acne skincare means that the products contain oils like olive oil, avocado oil, and familiar ingredients like shea butter, tea tree oil, Vitamin E, mango butter and chamomile. All good, nutritious stuff that is gentle on your skin.
Back to our drink anology. Would you drink a can of oil from brake fluid or a drink of avocado mixed with mango and chamomile? I know what I’ll be taking! And so why should the choices for what you put on your skin be any different?
And then there’s the earth
Natural skin care does not use chemicals that can harm the earth as they are washed down the drain. Chemicals found in chemical skin care find their way back into the environment and pollute it. Chemicals are manufactured in chemical plants that let off chemical fumes and waste that makes its way back into our lakes and earth, harming nature – animals and plants.
So, if you want your skin to be healthier the choice is simple…nature really does know best, choose it for your skin!
